Manual physiotherapy

Manual physiotherapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy in which we use specific hand movements to localize a movement disorder in the area of the extremity joints or the spine and, in a further step, to relieve pain, improve mobility and promote rehabilitation.

These techniques include, among others:

  • Joint mobilization: gentle movements to improve joint mobility
  • Soft tissue techniques: Massages and stretches to loosen tense muscles and tissues.
  • Manipulative therapy: precise applications for the treatment of joint problems.

The selection of the respective mobilization techniques is determined by the findings, the restricted direction of movement and the shape of the joint.

Which symptoms are treated?

Manual physiotherapy is used to treat a wide range of symptoms and complaints:

  • Back pain: Acute pain as well as chronic complaints
  • Joint pain: for arthritis, bursitis, arthrosis and other rheumatic diseases
  • Muscle tension: To relax the muscles and improve circulation
  • Restricted mobility (e.g. stiffness / paralysis): To increase your mobility and flexibility
  • Sports injuries: To restore freedom of movement and relieve pain

Most frequently asked questions

How painful is manual therapy?

These treatment techniques are carried out very gently by the therapists and are therefore usually not painful for the patients.

How long does it take for manual therapy to work?

Manual therapy can often be effective for acute pain and can effectively relieve symptoms after just a few sessions. However, treatment results can vary from patient to patient. The effective treatment of pain or movement restrictions that have persisted for some time usually requires more time compared to acute pain.

In which cases is manual therapy covered by health insurance?

As soon as you receive a physiotherapy prescription from your doctor, the costs are covered by the health insurance fund
