Pelvic floor therapy for women

Pelvic floor therapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy that focuses on strengthening and rehabilitating the pelvic floor. The therapy includes:

  • Pelvic floor exercises / training: Targeted exercises to strengthen and improve muscle control.
  • Manual techniques: Gentle, hands-on techniques to relax and mobilize the pelvic floor muscles.
  • Electrotherapy & biofeedback: control and regulation of physiological functions through feedback of biological data

What are the tasks of the pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor consists of muscles and connective tissue that close off the pelvis at the bottom and support the internal organs such as the bladder, bowel and uterus.

The pelvic floor plays a crucial role in various functions such as bladder and bowel control, supporting the internal organs and sexual health and basically takes care of three tasks:

  • Tensing (supporting the sphincter muscles)
  • Relax (for excretion of urine and stool)
  • Hold back (when sneezing, coughing, jumping or laughing, urine should not be lost uncontrollably)

Who is pelvic floor therapy suitable for?

Pelvic floor therapy is suitable for sufferers of all ages, especially in the following cases:

  • Birth preparation and postnatal rehabilitation: for support during pregnancy and afterwards.
  • Incontinence: In case of uncontrolled loss of urine or stool.
  • Pelvic floor weakness: For symptoms such as an irritable bladder or prolapse problems to strengthen the muscles.
  • Problems with sexual health: To increase sexual satisfaction and relieve pain.

Pelvic floor exercises at home or pelvic floor physiotherapy?

Experience has shown that many sufferers wait a surprisingly long time before taking action and doing something about their symptoms. Continuous pelvic floor training can achieve very good results and significantly improve quality of life.

Unfortunately, doing pelvic floor exercises on your own at home often does not lead to the desired result. Experience has shown that your goal will be achieved more safely and quickly with the help of expert guidance.
